An admittedly guilty pleasure of mine is Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s recent addition to the musical landscape. The poetry that is ‘W.A.P.’ was the musical shot fired around the world, debuting daring derrieres, splits, and bold big cat prints. Many have derided the song as being in “poor taste” but this song of female empowerment via the talents of one’s genetalia has found a home in the house music genre. Enter Borel’s remix of ‘WAP.’
The Borel mix has a decidedly tribal house feel to it. The track borrows the “There’s some hoes in this house” refrain and part of Megan Thee Stallion’s verse to lead off and then introduces Cardi B’s contribution midway. There are some interesting things going around the verses that makes for a decidedly satisfying remix. After the drop that is headed by a resounding announcement of “Wet Ass P****” is a continuation of the drum-tinged rhythm that permeates the remix. If you want to groove and twerk at the same time, do yourself a favor and press play. You won’t regret it.
