At long last, an album I’ve been waiting what felt like ages for. Techno queen Amelie Lens has finally released her long awaited album, “Aura.” And it’s every bit as good as you’d expect. An homage to her personal life, her connection with her fans and her own artistic journey, Aura culminates those and transforms those experiences into Techno-driven glory. The intro alone sets up the overarching theme for the album as it leads into, “Our Frequency”, a fast-paced track with those signature melodies, as well as Amelie’s own voice whispering, “Body resonates, aura activates, frequency elevates, aura dominates.” It’s a great way to set the pace of the album, as “run” continues the flow with vocal talent featuring Angele.

“The Only One” is one of my personal favorites, as I myself have an affinity for the dark side of Techno. “You’re the only one I want to see tonight” is whispered by Amelie accompanied by low bass growls and foreboding yet driving kicks. This is classified as what I’d call a silent banger. Quiet enough to make a statement without having to be bombastic. “4am at RSO” carries on with even more dark undertones. “Drift Away” picks things up with a more Acid Techno touch. Speaking of, “Falling into Acid Dreams” exemplifies that as those acid stabs and festival driven synths add an extra layer of hype, which is easily one of my favorite tracks off the album. “The Energy is Us” is another Acid Techno-infused standout, with underground warehouse vibes intent on satiating any Techno fans taste. Lastly, the album’s closer, “Whatever You Do” ends things on a softer note, but is a nice way to cap off an already stellar album.
Amelie Lens has been a busy woman this year and what I’d say someone who truly is more than dedicated to her craft. Playing sold out shows and festivals while pregnant is something very few artists her caliber have done, so massive respect to her for being an inspiration to women out there as well as fans like myself who appreciate everything she does for her not only her fanbase, but for herself as an artist as well as the person she is.
