ELEKTRIFIED Electrifies

Friday night I attended “ELEKTRIFIED 6” ~ Freakshow: Wonderland at Limelight. It has taken me awhile to adjust to this mainstay venue no longer being Rich’s, however, last night, the club felt like home. I saw so many familiar faces, and Friday was another great night at a venue that has been providing great memories to Houstonians for a long time.

I arrived early to support some of my closest friends, who were opening up the night in the Blue Room. Having the ability to gain entrance into some of the most popular clubs prior to them opening for the night, gives me such a great appreciation for the sound and lighting guys.

Limelight has also always been notoriously known for its amazing sound system-and last night was no different. The club was simply was overflowing with local talent that night! The Blue Room was bumping the bass most of the night thanks to DJ Mitch Fu, 2t0ne, White People and Lost Prophet. I love the lounging and intimate vibe always present in the Blue Room. The Red Room was lush and sexy, with house beats being played by Nesto, Tal Tager, Mensh, and Steven G.

The main floor was held down by Wes Walz vs. Poe Junior, Lucas Keizer, Taylor Tran, Bizz, Seebass & Val, and JKB. I thought that Lucas had such a great set: proper and pumping and just perfect for his time slot and to get the crowd on the floor. I also, really enjoyed the Wes Walz-Poe Junior tag set. While I have seen Wes a few times at this venue and he never disappoints. If you ever get a chance to see these two tag, I’d suggest checking them out.

Finally, the performers last night were very good. Their outfits, dancing, and acrobatics, helped to bring the Freakshow theme to life last night. The patrons did not come decked out in costumes, so that is something that is not carrying over from Rich’s-who was known for their infamous costume balls and themed parties, but overall, I really like what they have done with Limelight.

The monthly Elektrified party has helped to re-establish Limelight as a premiere dance venue in Houston. We were all so heartbroken when Rich’s closed, so I hope that everyone takes the time to go back to this staple of Houston dance music. Keep an eye out for the next Elektrified party in June.
