At long last and after 5 years, BlackGummy is back! This time with a full length concept album that showcases a double meaning. Just as the title also has a dual meaning, the them of this album is all about deconstruction and reconstruction of different things such as emotion, civilization, etc. “Day Zero” sets the stage as an ominous intro track, which leads straight into “Raze.” It’s a darker, more mysterious track that evokes deep space vibes. Think traveling in space while passing through a planet that almost seems shrouded in darkness. That’s the beauty of this album. It’ll make you imagine your own dreamscapes with every track you hear.

“Potatoes & Meat” is BlackGummy in his natural electro habit, with “No Romance” graciously following suit with a more menacing tone. If you’ve kept up with BlackGummy’s Instagram, you’ll notice the visuals used for this song are spot on. The vocals proclaiming “no romance” as if almost declaring it be true only assists the ever looming yet driving beat. As previously reviewed by yours truly, “Checkyourpocket” continues that Electro-fueled charm. Tracks like “Satellite Repair” and “Explorer” easily give cosmic vibes, while conveying both adventure, serenity and wonder. “Future People” is probably one of the standout bangers from the album. Basically starting off out the gate with an electronically robotic beat. The title of this track once again seems to reference that space-exploration vibe previously mentioned earlier.

The final track, “Euphoria” is over a 7 minute galactic journey that harkens back to the beginning of the album, reminding us of the fall of civilization. It isn’t until that second half of the track that the rolling beat and synths offer a glimmer of hope as it crescendos to an end. This entire album is such a journey that will make your imagination set sail on a space epic you won’t forget.

Final Rating: 8
