Joel Zimmerman (deadmau5) Has been quite the busy bee this year. With having released his Errors EP this past Summer, to announcing a new album at long last after 10 years, to now releasing the 1st single from the upcoming album, “Ameonna”, which translates to “rain woman” and refers to a Japanese yokai. The track begins with that classic chord heavy buildup, that instead leads into a driving progressive melody. It’s an interesting touch considering most would expect a drop after that first buildup. Those familiar with deadmau5 will know that such a drop is not easily attained. Rest assured, that beautiful second synth-leading buildup pays off with a melancholic yet dance floor centric vibe
If a new EP release, album announcement and new single weren’t enough, deadmau5 officially announced the retirement of his Cube live shows. Although bittersweet, deadmau5 has also announced a new type of live show, set to debut at Red Rocks Amphitheatre this upcoming weekend! If “Ameonna” is any indication of the rest of deadmau5’s new album, we’re all (mouse) ears ready and waiting.
