Valentino Khan returned to Houston with a powerful performance at Warehouse Live Midtown on July 12, bringing a set that delivered both musical variety and an infectious atmosphere. I arrived at the venue at 11:15 and people were steadily lining up to go through security to get their tickets scanned. Security was very efficient and took no time to get into the venue. As I walked up the stairs to the entrance of the dance floor I heard dubstep being played by the opener. I thought this was a very odd choice as it was a “house/techno” type of event, but the crowd didn’t seem to mind. At 11:30 the opener was done and then a well known name in Houston took the stage. His name is Vance Lawrence and he prepared the audience for where the night was going to end up. Vance’s track selection definitely built upon itself, getting the crowd very hyped up by 12:30 when his set ended.

The night kicked off with mid-energy selections in the tech house and bass house realms, setting the tone for what would be a dynamic ride. As the night progressed, Khan amped things up with hard techno cuts and Latin-infused remixes, bringing the room to its peak energy before winding down with familiar hits from his own catalog and clever pop remixes that had the crowd singing along.

The audience was fully locked in—dancing, smiling, and radiating good vibes throughout the night. The venue was comfortably packed; while it wasn’t wall-to-wall, there was still plenty of room to move, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. Friendly faces and open dance space created a refreshing environment that made it easy to get lost in the music. The bar staff also deserves a shoutout—quick service and pleasant attitudes helped keep the momentum going without the usual hassle of long lines.

From a musical standpoint, Valentino Khan delivered a well-rounded set that catered to a wide range of tastes. His remix selection was a standout, skillfully blending mainstream radio hits with underground energy. That said, his set structure did follow a familiar formula seen in previous tour stops, which took away a bit of the surprise factor for seasoned fans. Still, the execution was top-notch, and his ability to read the crowd kept things engaging. Unfortunately, the sound system wasn’t without flaw—while the volume was balanced, some distortion crept in, hinting at the need for maintenance at the venue.

As mentioned, parking was another slight pain point for the evening. While it wasn’t impossible to find a spot, nearby lots were charging $30 without posted pricing, which caught a few attendees off guard. Though this isn’t under the venue’s control, it’s something to plan for if you’re driving in. All things considered, Valentino Khan delivered a high-energy, crowd-pleasing show that’s well worth experiencing if you’re into house, techno, or genre-bending sets. An overall great night out in Midtown Houston.
