Slander at Stereo Live Houston: 9/10 A guest review by Susan Ho

Friday July 11th Slander made their return to H-town at Stereo Live. I can’t deny it, the show hit me right in the feels. It was pure nostalgia. It felt like stepping back into the moment I first fell in love with the scene. Back then, my playlists were filled with melodic dubstep, trap, and future bass, so hearing those sounds live again brought everything full circle. It was like a love letter to the era that started it all for me.

What I really appreciated was how Slander mixed in a little bit of every genre, giving the crowd a diverse set to vibe to. Whether you came for the drops or the feels, there was something for everyone. One of the most unforgettable moments was the whole crowd singing in unison to the sadboi anthems. It was cathartic, emotional, and somehow beautiful in its shared heartbreak. It’s incredible how music can pull such deep emotions out of us. The show wasn’t just a performance. It felt like a full-on emotional journey. One of the downsides of the night was the packed venue. Since it was a sold-out show, it got really hot inside. I ended up hanging toward the back just to cool off and catch a breath. Another minor downside? The $7 water bottles. Seriously?! It didn’t ruin the experience by any means, but that price was wild.

I’d give the Slander show a solid 9/10. The wave of nostalgia hit hard, and the variety of genres kept the energy fresh all night. I had an amazing time and, honestly, I’ve been playing their songs on repeat ever since I got home (including right now as I write this).
