Feature: Vance Lawrence
Happy spooky season DoD gang! I’m back with a special guest that I’m SURE you’re familiar with — and if you’re not, where have you been?? Joining me this month is none other than local legend Vance Lawrence.
I met Vance back in 2018, and he’s been part of my music journey from my very first DJ set. He was a regular at my first residency with Fantastic Voyage at The Dive, and we’ve graced many local stages together over the years including Stereo Live, The Flat, and RISE Rooftop. Vance was recently announced as part of the Seismic Dance Event lineup, set to make his debut appearance at the festival next month, so don’t miss him!
Vance has got some new releases on Siblings Audio, including “Airspace,” and “Hyena,” that we’re featuring this month, and his Fantastic Finds include tunes from Brisotti, Christoph, and Fossil Archive. Next to his selections, I discovered Cory Henry this month, an amazing jazz musician, and lined up his track “Happy Days” next to soulful jams from Greenwood Rhythm Coalition, and “Nightlife” from Jafunk. Bakey finds his way back into my picks with “Cheeky Dubplate” alongside some deep tech finds from Kreech and Eli Samuel, Locklead and Luuk Van Dijk, and Kobe JT.
