Feature: Anna Morgan
Heyo DoD crew, is it hot in here or is it just me?! We’ve hit a mid-summer stride and if you weren’t feelin the heat already, surely you’ll need to cool off after checking out this month’s playlist! My guest is a supernova talent, label boss, DJ Mag Best of North America Breakthrough DJ nominee, and all-around badass, Anna Morgan.
I think my first proper introduction to Anna was through our mutual friend, CODES, in 2021 when he included us both in a special Women’s Day dedication from his label, Holy Mole. Anna is also a wonderful friend of the Fantastic Voyage fambam and it’s been an honor to share lineups and compilation releases with her. She joined us at our MeowWolf Denver takeover earlier this summer and her energy was absolutely unmatched, a true joy to have at our event.
Fun fact: the biggest DJ gig I’ve had to turn down to this day was opening for Anna and The Glitch Mob here in Houston. I got the call literally as I was leaving town, and trust me I wanted to drop everything and turn the whole ship around! But we’ll make the next one for sure! Looking forward to more good times ahead <3
Anna brings big tunes from Nia Archives and Bianca Oblivion to this month’s selections, and we’re featuring her releases from Magic City, Defrostatica Records, and FV. I’ve also lined up heavy hitters from Sammy Virji, Morelia, and VNSSA, next to some dancefloor slam dunks from my latest DJ sets, “Talk Of The Town,” “Caracas,” and a Justin Jay X Thumpasaurus classic, “Wayne’s World.” A few house tunes from Dusky, Interplanetary Criminal, and Matt Egbert made the cut, and a special shoutout to my buddy Ethan for sending through a brand new one from Tom Richman.
