BOO! Back again for some October tunes, and for me, October means hittin’ Modesto Reservoir for Dirtybird Campout. It’s 5am and I’m about to board my flight, but not before I leave ya with some fresh new finds for spoopy szn. Big shoutout to my campmate this year, Groovy Drew; “Mack Blagic” is a great new release of his from late summer, and the single even features a remix from our mutual friend, Daniel Allen. Looking forward to seeing my bud Lubelski at camp, too; his Club Bad banger “Scatter Drill” was still unreleased when we hit up It’ll Do earlier this year and I heard him rip it on the dancefloor for the first time. I’ve opened up with a big synthy breaks track, “Drops in the Ocean,” and Ari Bald and Footshooter bring in some easy grooves with “Loos” and “Catch My Breath.” Some deeper techy sounds are here from a favorite of mine, Den Haas, and a really exciting new find for me this month was DJ Flashdrive. Also got a new fave in the mix from fellow Fantastic Voyage family, Uri Allgood, and man what a stellar EP from my friend Edward White–“Rude Boy” is my pick that I’ve featured here, but the whole pack is a banger top to bottom. Plenty of afro and jazz influence in this month’s list, with a ’97 classic to close it out.
