This week’s New Music Monday features French DJ/Producer, Gessaffelstein. This week, we get another glimpse of a track off his upcoming album, HYPERION. We’ve been pondering what we were going to get from him after a long gap, his recent work with The Weeknd, and his recent signing to a major label. We’ve already had a couple of teasers: Lost in the Fire (feat. The Weeknd), which is pointing towards the poppier end, and Reset, which points towards the heavier.
As for our New Music Monday track, Blast Off, a collab with Pharrell Williams, we’re really not sure what to make of it. It’s a well done track, but has tipped the scales for us towards the pop. The track itself is catchy, and reminds us of Queen’s Flash, which is not quite dated, but perhaps would be better suited for our tastes with Freddie at the helm.
Either way, our interest is piqued, and we’re eagerly awaiting his new album!
