Music Review – Flite’s “Titan”

Flite, the Austin, Texas drum and bass producer who we have previously featured on our On the Radar Artist of the Month series (click here to read) just released a monster of a new track a few days ago. Called “Titan”, the song is quite different from the usual liquid drum and bass that we have come to expect from Flite, however it still maintains his extremely high quality standards and unique style. Perhaps he has gained some inspiration from his recent work with Muzzy?

Starting out with a light and quick synth line, the tension develops quickly through the introduction. A grimy bassline enters during the build, clearly expressing that this track will be much darker and more aggressive than his usual sound. The drop is a fantastic blend of complexity, intricacy, and speed. During the break and second build, he reintroduces the first build with very minor, delicate spacey sounds added to keep it fresh. The second drop, however, is a whole new monster. With extra-heavy bass holding strong through the whole drop, Flite truly creates a vigorous and dynamic atmosphere for the audience. Following a peaceful synth line and a gentle decrescendo, Flite wraps up Titan flawlessly, making this track one to keep on any drum and bass lover’s playlist.
