Music Review – Delta Heavy’s “Gravity”

On April 20th, Delta Heavy’s newest single “Gravity” was released through RAM Records, and this one is absolutely massive. With growling bass lines and intense synths, “Gravity” sounds like the birth child of Hans Zimmer and a post-apocalyptic Inspector Gadget.

Starting with a cinematic “braaam”, like those found in epic movie trailers, Delta Heavy set the tone of the track within the first fifteen seconds. By adding in light hi-hats, haunting lyrics that warn of impending destruction, and a futuristic synth line, energy and tension continue to develop until reaching the song’s climax. It then takes an aggressive turn at the drop, with gravely bass and dynamic rhythm keeping the audience on the brink of exhaustion. After calming down for one more iteration of the build, the track comes back to life with a repeat of the drop, barring some very minute changes, and finishes off with an abrupt, yet appropriate fade.

Delta Heavy took this track and made it one for the ages, keeping with their signature powerful style and yet providing a track that is both refreshing and memorable. The artist duo has released many outstanding productions this year, and we expect more exciting works out of them as the year goes on.
