It was a Friday night in Houston, Texas with lines of people wrapped around the building for the next installment of popular House & Techno party KINDA SUPER DISCO. Tonights headliner? None other than the techno legend, Richie Hawtin.

Since the re-opening of Rich’s, the nightclub has hosted a slew of world class DJ’s and been home to the ever blooming Kinda Super Disco party, founded by Josh Dupont and James Reed.

It’s customary to show up to the club late. Skip the build up, walk into an exploding scene. We’ve all done it… Not tonight. Houston’s dance scene has been building and building over the past 10 years and full of diverse house and techno music lovers. This was such a treat and everyone was hungry for it.

The local support of Brandon Silva & debut set by “Space Prodigi” supercharged the nightclub with fierce analog sounds and deep dark beats. Coming in hot on the decks were KSD duo Josh & James, revving the sound-system with their beautifully curated set. Their signature LED Cube stage props being passed around the crowd is customary during the party. Everything was aligning – Lights, sound and the crowd’s energy.

Richie was welcomed on stage with howls and cries, applause and cheers. The club went to black, lasers engaged and then began his 2 hour set of pure techno bliss.

His innovative approach to djing by using new and different technologies such as his signature Model 1 mixer, Traktor Kontrol X1 and Ableton push allow him to give an engaging performance and create limitless possiblities in constructing and deconstructing your favorite tracks and sounds.

Richie Hawtin truly plays differently and it’s something to admire.

**EDIT** It should be noted that the evening was also a benefit for the recent victims of Hurricane Harvey and proceeds were aiding the Houston Food Bank, as well as Mr. Hawtin donating a portion of his fee to said organization as well.
