This year marks the 25th anniversary of Mark Farina’s Mushroom Jazz brand and club night, as well as the 21st anniversary of the CD release of Mushroom Jazz 1, and the 26th anniversary of his signature sound. First released as cassette tapes in 1992, his groovy, eclectic downtempo mixes became staples of an entire generation of party goers. This extra special Mix of the Week takes us back to the promotional tour of Mushroom Jazz 1 (1996). It’s 3 full hours chocked full of house classics and serious soul, spun masterfully on vinyl in LA’s Iconic Melodic nightclub, where he was a resident. Compared to other mixes from the era, it’s aged considerably well. For you fans of the series, this mix is considerably more upbeat, but nevertheless, seriously quality.
Enjoy!
