They say that if you have one true friend in life, you’re lucky. But if your fiancée left you just before your wedding and you’re an ex-child TV star who can’t seem to move forward with an adult career, you might think you’re terribly unlucky…until you realize you have a friend like Flula Borg. He might say he’s the luckiest, but one can only dream of best friends like him.
In Buddymoon (2016, directed by Alex Simmons), life is promising for former child actor, David (played by David Giuntoli), until his fiancée leaves him just before their wedding day. After sinking into a booze-soaked depression, his best friend, Flula (played by Flula Borg), comes to cheer him up with his infectiously upbeat antics. David realizes he hadn’t canceled the honeymoon he was supposed to take with his wife—hiking for a full week in the remote mountains of Oregon, Lewis and Clarke style—and Flula insists they go anyway to get some fresh air, sun and exercise. Thus, instead of going on a romantic honeymoon, David is now Flula’s “honig kumpel,” German for “honey buddy.”
In real life, Flula Borg is a German DJ, engineer, musician, actor and YouTube personality. He’s simply hilarious and is a character you can’t forget. And impressively, he has an engineering degree and can fix his own DJ equipment. He’s been known to record random clips of people and events (sort of like in the movie how he walks around in nature recording random sounds) and remixing into dance music tracks.
(Oh yeah, and he was also in Pitch Perfect 2.)
I’ve never heard of a comedic DJ, but now that I have, I’m glad it’s Flula. And now, it’s time to DÄNCE!
