Just in time for the kick off to the summer, Chicago brings you a new music festival. Myth Festival draws inspiration from Greek mythology, promising an event that will celebrate culture and the arts. Stelios Kandias, founder of Myth Festival, says that the festival “means so much for so many musicians and music lovers who know how important it is to connect cultures through the sharing of music. It’s also going to be terrifically entertaining — variously colorful, tuneful and dynamic.”

Myth Festival is a two-day international house music festival that will take place June 18 and 19. Its two days of body shaking music will attempt to be contained at 2526 N Knox Avenue. This hot spot for house is just 10 minutes from the Montrose stop on the blue line, making it easily accessible within the city.

Myth Festival aims to serve as a place where art, music, and dance converge and people from all over the globe interact. The acts that will be performing across two stages represent the countries of Greece, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Ukraine, Spain, and the United States. I was quite pleased to see the likes of Junior Sanchez and DJ Heather on the lineup. A quick investigation of the other artists on the bill told me all I needed to know. This house festival is going to bring the heat.

Buy your tickets here. More information can be found at the festival’s website, on Facebook, and Twitter. For those interested in saving a few dollars, I found a Groupon deal that shaves some money off the cost of tickets, but hurry because the deal has only limited time remaining.

I was listening to electronic dance music without even knowing it when I was listening to Jock Jams in the 90s. Fast forward to my senior year in high school and I had discovered Fatboy Slim. I have been listening to edm ever since and love writing about new sounds, good sounds, and the music that makes us move.
