Deadmau5 roasts Marshmello after EDC Las Vegas

Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas this past weekend was full of epic moments, among them being Marshmello’s set for his mellogang. Ookay, Jauz, Martin Garrix, and Skrillex also joined the white bucket headed bass music star on stage. Towards the end Marshmello announced he was going to remove his helmet but instead of Dotcom, who has been outed as the man underneath the helmet, stood Tiesto.

Here is another angle.

Much has been made of the moment, including the jem below.

Not everyone found the stunt so funny or noteworthy however. Deadmau5 took to Twitter to show just how taken he was with the stunt.

You don’t have to follow Deadmau5 on Twitter to know about his history of trolling and shade throwing, as what he types ends up circulating on all the edm blogs. Marshmello fired back to Deadmau5’s opinion of his troll attempt, telling Deadmau5 he should consider adding a feminine hygeine product to his rider.

This is not the first time Deadmau5 and Marshmello have traded barbs. As recently as May they had a Twitter exchange that started with marshmello asking if Deadmau5 wanted to go one on one with him in basketball. This was after Marshmello went on Twitter claiming Deadmau5 flipped him off when he tried to say hello at Ultra Miami earlier this year. Deadmau5 responded to Marshmello’s basketball showdown request in the way only Deadmau5 knows how.deadmau5marshmellobasketbal

My opinion of all this? Both artists are talented in their own way. Marshmello is not everyone’s thing, but you can’t deny that he hypes up his crowds. From the tweets, snaps, and Facebook statuses I see, he also appears to be down to earth enough to mingle with his fans. His style of mixing and his productions have grown on me. I can say I am as much a fan of Marshmello as I am of Deadmau5, who is currently at work on a b2b live set with Eric Prydz at Tomorrowland in Belgium on July 22nd. Between that, working on a new stage design, releasing new music, and playing Candy Crush the man stays busy. Twitter is not a summation of a person. The roasting of Marshmello and the back and forth on Twitter only serves to blow off a little steam. I’m all for less tweeting and more awesomeness from the both of them in the future. I was listening to electronic dance music without even knowing it when I was listening to Jock Jams in the 90s. Fast forward to my senior year in high school and I had discovered Fatboy Slim. I have been listening to edm ever since and love writing about new sounds, good sounds, and the music that makes us move.
