McDonald’s diners in the Netherlands were given the opportunity to make hot beats while munching on their orders last month. TBWA\Neboko, an advertising agency, and This Page Amsterdam, a digital production agency, teamed up to create McTrax, a paper placement that turns your eating space into a mini studio.
McTrax is a paper placemat printed with conducive ink that has a hole cut out in the middle to place one’s smart phone. The smart phone connects to the placemat via Bluetooth and serves as a vehicle to deliver your beats to listening ears. McTrax allows you to play with loops, use effects on what you produce, and record vocals. I hope McDonald’s has a lot of water on hand. Too much fire may be made inside their restaurants. Check out a video from This Page Amsterdam that shows the placemat in action.
I was listening to electronic dance music without even knowing it when I was listening to Jock Jams in the 90s. Fast forward to my senior year in high school and I had discovered Fatboy Slim. I have been listening to edm ever since and love writing about new sounds, good sounds, and the music that makes us move.
