Producers, listen up! Zedd wants you to remix his track, “Candyman,” that he made with soulful crooner Aloe Blacc. The reinvention of the song, originally sung by Sammy Davis Jr., was done to commemorate M&M’s 75th anniversary. Now you can get in on the remix action by going to M&M’s marketing website at https://remix.mms.com/ and using their online beat maker. From there you can record and submit. Alternatively, you can tweet your remix to Zedd himself. When submitting, you may want to keep the following fine print in mind that is found on M&M’s website:

By using this site, you agree that Mars, Incorporated (“Mars”) owns the rights in both the Candyman samples and any resulting work(s) that you may create (the “Work(s)”), and you agree to assign to Mars any and all intellectual property rights in the Work(s). Mars shall have the right to use in any manner (including to make derivative works of) the Work(s), without attribution, payment, or notice to you, including use on the Mars website or otherwise in the promotion of Mars products. Your use of the Work(s) in any manner other than as specified on this site are strictly prohibited. All other material appearing on this site, including the M&M’S trademark and M lentil design, are the exclusive intellectual property of Mars.

Good luck!! Remixes that have been submitted can be checked out in the Gallery area of M&M’s website. The original song was written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley for the 1971 film Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. I can see Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka snapping his fingers and bobbing his head to the remixes. If you need a refresher, here is a video for Zedd and Aloe Blacc’s take on the iconic song.

I was listening to electronic dance music without even knowing it when I was listening to Jock Jams in the 90s. Fast forward to my senior year in high school and I had discovered Fatboy Slim. I have been listening to edm ever since and love writing about new sounds, good sounds, and the music that makes us move.
