We reported earlier that Madison House presents had secured a permit for a new festival in Colorado. This festival finally has a name: the Vertex Festival. The Vertex Festival will be thrown by Madison House Presents and AEG Live Rocky Mountains. The website describes the Vertex Festival as merging “the best of worlds to create a present-day frontier where anything is possible.” Curious to know what the Vertex Festival will offer? According to the festival organizers, it will be “diverse music, exhilarating outdoor adventures and artful fun and games [to] bring people together for an enduring shared experience.” Over a dozen artists that will be on the lineup have already been revealed, which can be found on the website.

The location will be CottonWood Meadows, a ranch that runs along the banks of Cottonwood Creek. Festival goers will be able to see the Collegiate Range in the distance and enjoy outdoor activities such as river rafting, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, and biking. If you are more artistically inclined, the Vertex festival offers a plethora of opportunites for self expression.

Accompanying outdoor activities are several programs: a sticker design contest, an art installation program, and a performance program. Vertex will also give those who want to give back the opportunity to do so by hosting a food drive in partnership with the Conscious Alliance, working to register voters through the initiative Headcount, and donating to the Vertex 2016 Music in Schools Program. For more information on these and more activities, go here.

Doors will open at 12 p.m. Thursday, August 4 for those with an Early Arrival Parking Pass and stay open for 24 hours until the festival concludes. Without the Early Arrival Parking Pass, festival goers can enter the festival as early as 10 a.m. on Friday, August 5. Vertex is all ages, but children who are 6 years and older must have their own ticket. While you can bring your children, pets will not be allowed.

If you’re worried about water, don’t fear. Free water filling stations will be available at the venue itself and on the campgrounds. You are allowed to bring as much water into the campgrounds as you like, but upon entering the venue, only one sealed bottle of water will be allowed (It will need to be a gallon or less). You can bring hydration pack and re-usable water bottles, but they must be empty. This sounds par the course for a festival, so no surpries there.

Looking over the list of prohibited items, I saw the usual no-nos: weapons, fireworks, explosives, drugs. One of the things that caught my eye was the listing of American Indian headdresses. Oh—and you can’t bring a hammer, so if you are looking to engage in cultural appropriation or build a fence, you are out of luck.

Tickets go on sale Friday, March 25 at 12 pm MT.

I was listening to electronic dance music without even knowing it when I was listening to Jock Jams in the 90s. Fast forward to my senior year in high school and I had discovered Fatboy Slim. I have been listening to edm ever since and love writing about new sounds, good sounds, and the music that makes us move.
