Bedrock Records to release Live in Montreal

When I read that Bedrock Records will release a six CD series covering John Digweed’s set in Montreal last year, my eyes widened. Six discs? Jesus. But if anyone can man the decks for that long and come out on the winning end, it’s John Digweed. Live in Montreal was recorded at Stereo, where John Digweed owned the venue for eleven straight hours. The six cd series only covers eight of those hours, but I am confident that those eight hours will be more than enough to get your John Digweed mix fix. Marathon sets are not for the weak and neither is this set that spans six discs. Live in Montreal includes tracks from artists like Alek S, Recondite, Nuiton, and Eagles & Butterflies. To call it a labor of love would be an understatement, but is it really labor when you are doing what you love?

John Digweed has been one of my favorite producers and djs for the longest time. He is actually one of the very first artists to leave an imprint on me. My first introduction to John Digweed was in the movie Groove. I had no idea who he was before then, but from the moment he dropped Bedrock’s “Heaven Scent” I was hooked. I had to know who this guy was so I looked him up on the Internet. I would soon discover an entirely new realm of music. When it was announced that John Digweed and Sasha were bringing their Delta Heavy tour to Houston at the Verizon Wireless theater, I snagged my ticket with a quickness. This was in 2002 when I was wet behind the ears. The Verizon Wireless theater wasn’t the best venue, in my opinion, but once the music started I forgot where I was. I recall John Digweed running through the crowd, something that took me by surprise because before that I had only seen djs stick to the stage. Unlike some artists, I have yet to hear about any wild escapades. He sticks to dropping music gem after music gem. For that he will always have my respect.

Live in Montreal will be released on February 26, 2016 so mark your calendars. The Bedrock store will offer a limited number of signed copies. Pre-order your copy here: www.johndigweed.com/livein

I was listening to electronic dance music without even knowing it when I was listening to Jock Jams in the 90s. Fast forward to my senior year in high school and I had discovered Fatboy Slim. I have been listening to edm ever since and love writing about new sounds, good sounds, and the music that makes us move.
