With everyone abuzz about Ministry opening, it was only a matter of time before their new weekly events were announced. Manning the helm of Fridays, Eric Dean has launched his weekly “Lit Fridays,” which will capitalize on the successful formula he’s created with Electro Pop. We were able to speak with Dean about his upcoming weekly and the creative process behind it.
Matthew: “Give us some insight on the new weekly, Eric.”
Eric: “So the more things change the more they stay the same. It’s a continuation of what I started at Kryptonite after UW’s tenure . I went into the night with very little knowledge about Electro, I depended on the guys in my crew, Murderland, to suggest good electro DJs . After the first month I knew what would work… Then, I started Electro Pop. People love a good remix- even the ones that weren’t into electro. Music transcends all the bullshit. During my stay at Limelight, I was able to perfect my vision . I credit Wes Walz for really getting my vision and opening me up to new DJs that also got what I was going for. I wanted the night to be somewhere you get this hard hitting electro vibe,but at the same time have something recognizable to a non EDM. They can relate to the music, it gives the casual fan something they know. It happens during every Electro Pop… Someone will ask ‘Who’s that DJ that played the Lady GaGa Judas remix’ or ‘Guns & Roses remix,’ et cetera. It turns a casual listener into an engaged fan.”
Matthew: “So what can people expect with Lit?”
Eric: “What to expect of Lit? It’s a party. A feel good, turn up night with songs you know and love. I’m out here preaching the gospel of good vibes.”
Lit kicks off Friday, October 2nd at Ministry and will be featuring HEAVYGRINDER as their first headliner show on October 16th!
Matthew is a well known and respected DJ and promoter based out of Houston, TX. Dunn has well over a decade behind the decks, played alongside some of the biggest names in dance music, and is a fixture in the EDM community both on local and international level.
