Mimosa vs Mystic Festival: Don’t Mess With Texas

Over the weekend genre blurring producer, Mimosa was one of the featured headliners at Houston, TX festival MYSTIC. The REAL show however, was put on when the producer was asked to exit the stage as his timeslot was completed, and veteran performer downlink moved to prepare for his set. Mimosa, by all accounts drunk and agitated, refused to give up the decks and instead opted to pour a bottle of grey goose on Downlink’s head. Mimosa was then forcibly ejected from the event by staff security and added insult to injury (mostly to himself) by tweeting about it.

The baseline account of the incident that’s been making the rounds was provided by William Blaine (aka Oscillator Z, another performer at the weekend festival)

Although there has been no official response from the Underworld camp (the event production company who hosted Mystic), long time member and co-manager Greg “El Nino””s response on another Facebook post regarding the incident was short but sweet.

Many speculate Mimosa’s antics are merely a way for him to stay relevant as his success seems to be on the decline. Perhaps there’s a better way to stay relevant, make good music. Touring constantly is never easy and there are always a constant barrage of distractions and vices, but in the end, when you disrespect those that book you and those that play alongside you, all you’re doing is burning bridges, even if they are soaked in Grey Goose. Hopefully the young producer can turn this around and do a little growing up before it’s too late.
