If deep house, nu disco, and Chicago house are some of your favorite electronic music flavors, you will find solace in the work of Oleg Lisovsky, also known as Lessovsky. Exported from the Ukraine, Lessovsky dives into the deeper end of the house pool. What I like the most about him is that he is a  versatile house music producer and dj. Some of his tracks are for the dance floor. Others are for those quiet mornings when you need to reflect. Still others are for a late night drive. For example, let’s look at the tracks Soft and My Way. He takes those soft pads and layers them with alluring vocals and a sensual bassline in his track with Msekko, Soft. On the other side of the house spectrum is My Way from Lessovsky, a funkier tune with a confident vocal lead.

One look at Lessovsky’s Soundcloud and it is easy to see that Lessovsky stays busy producing. On August 15th, Lessovsky released his latest EP, Anytime You Want It, on Piston Recordings. This is his debut release on a label that recognizes fresh, young talent and serves as a purveyor of independent dance music in Portugal and beyond. The Anytime You Want It EP serves up three deep house selections.

Room 69 transports me back to my dark warehouse days dancing into the witching hour. It’s gritty, but it’s oh so good. Swimming In Your Hair, a lusher cut, includes that oh so powerful sound of the saxophone, perfect for a summer afternoon or evening. Anytime You Want It avoids the typical commercial deep house route of playing each note higher than the last in each bar. Light percussion accompanies the soulful vocal refrain and brings the track to a stunning, groovy conclusion.

While his EP is new on Piston, Lessovsky is no stranger to the world of electronic dance music. He has  been released on King Street, Love Not Money, Kiez Beats, Sleazy G, Digital Delight, Matter of Fact Records, Hotfingers, Pole Position, Audio Rehab, Dear Dear Records, Zoo: Technique Records, LoveStyle Records, and Erase Records to name a few.

Lessovsky was recently featured on a compilation of music released by Tenampa Recordings. The original mix of The One he  produced featuring vocalist Aden Ray made it on the compilation in addition to the Zakir In The Rain remix.

There are so many different facets of house music and it takes on many different forms due to the musical art form being adopted by people all over the world. Indulge yourself with a little Lessovsky and discover what the wide world of house has to offer. You can find Oleg Lisovskiy on Facebook, Soundcloud, Mixcloud, and Instagram. Get his music on Beatport and Traxsource. For a peek into what gets his attention, you can check out his most recent chart on Beatport at https://www.beatport.com/chart/lost-summer/412373.

I was listening to electronic dance music without even knowing it when I was listening to Jock Jams in the 90s. Fast forward to my senior year in high school and I had discovered Fatboy Slim. I have been listening to edm ever since and love writing about new sounds, good sounds, and the music that makes us move.
