If it’s a wall of consistently-formatted text so big you still see letters in your eyes when you’re done reading, then you know it’s an Electric Daisy Carnival lineup.

Like last year, there was first a much more cryptic release that the internet had to figure out before the official lineup poster came out (last year we had to decipher “owlglyphics” whereas this year we had to listen to mini sound clips by stage on Night Owl Radio and name the artist).

If there’s one thing that can be said about this massive lineup, it’s that variety takes center stage. Not just in terms of musical genres, but also in terms of old schoolers, new schoolers, heavy-hitting headliners, and new kids on the block. It doesn’t seem like Insomniac has any more to add to the list (unlike years past, when there were tiered lineup announcements), but that doesn’t mean there won’t be some amazing surprise sets the weekend of.

Last year before going to EDC I was totally pumped to see my favorite artists. I still am this year, but possibly more than that, and one of the best things I walked away from that last Monday morning of EDC 2015, is the joy of discovering new artists, sounds and performances. Are there names left off this list that I wish weren’t? Of course. But I’m wagering that there are probably way more names on this list that I don’t yet know I was wishing for all along.
